ATHENS, Ga. --- Georgia softball head coach Lu Harris-Champer announced on Monday the signing of five student-athletes to National Letters-of-Intent to attend the University of Georgia and play for the Bulldogs beginning in the 2009-10 season. |
Upon the final vote of the ASA Council, Georgia has received the authority to award up to 5 In-State Berths in 2009. This is long overdue. Georgia, which has one of the highest ASA State registrations, has long been looked over when it came to receiving the appropriate number of Berths.
This will allow for greater participation in ASA Nationals for all Georgia Teams. As the Georgia Impact is a strong supporter of ASA Championship play, this will allow us to possibly advance more teams.
As of this weekend, Rick Jeffrey's 18 Gold Team has two Division I Commitments.
Carrie Williams commits to Georgia State University
As an Outfielder, she has played with Rick for the past 4 years. She will be a 2009 graduate of Woodstock High School.
Alison Owens commits to The University of Georgia
As a Pitcher, she has played within the Organization since she first put on cleats. Alison will be a 2009 graduate of East Coweta High School.
Congratulations to both young ladies on their commitment to the game and their pursuit of excellence at the Division I level.
