As a coach, it's essential to establish the kind of team you aim to lead and make initial decisions that align with your coaching goals. Although there is no definitive right or wrong path, your choices regarding the tournaments you participate in, your openness to bringing in new players, and letting go of current ones will play a role in your success in creating a unified team.

For those coaches that have kids on the team, the first evaluation that needs to be made is the skill set of your child.  This will be a barometer for the level of players you will acquire and retain. Your daughter does not have to be the best player on the team but she can't be the worst, or it will create perceptions of 'Daddy Ball', which can hamper your ability to get good players.
